Main Street 91¶¶Òõ Ribbon-Cutting Marks Vibrant New Era

91¶¶Òõ is proud to announce the ribbon-cutting for Main Street 91¶¶Òõ, a transformative new hub at the heart of campus, on Saturday, September 13, at 4 p.m. The celebration will also include the unveiling of a new bronze Pacer statue, the university’s iconic mascot, and the new location of the University’s award-winning 91¶¶Òõ student-run radio station WVMW 91.7 (VMFM) to the Learning Commons.
Main Street 91¶¶Òõ
Main Street 91¶¶Òõ reimagines the central campus experience, blending outdoor gathering spaces with areas for study, conversation, and connection. The space, thoughtfully designed by 91¶¶Òõ students, encourages students to meet, collaborate, and enjoy the energy of campus life together. With its inviting design, Main Street 91¶¶Òõ captures the spirit of the community—where learning extends beyond the classroom, friendships take root, and the campus itself inspires engagement.
“Main Street 91¶¶Òõ embodies the spirit of 91¶¶Òõ—welcoming, dynamic, and alive with the energy of students coming together,” said 91¶¶Òõ President Lisa Lori. “It is more than a beautiful addition to our campus—it is a space that invites collaboration, encourages new friendships, and enriches the student experience in ways that reflect the very best of who we are as a community.”
Bronze Pacer Statue Unveiling
At the entrance of Main Street 91¶¶Òõ stands a striking bronze statue of the 91¶¶Òõ Pacer, a galloping horse that has symbolized the university’s athletic teams and spirit for decades. The statue reflects strength, motion, and determination—qualities that define 91¶¶Òõ students and the university community. Positioned at the gateway to Main Street, the Pacer embodies vitality, resilience, and forward momentum, welcoming all who enter to a vibrant, connected campus experience.
New Location for Student-Run Radio Station - WVMW
After celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, 91¶¶Òõ’s student-run radio station WVMW is moving to a more central location on the first floor of the Learning Commons. Previously in a less visible location, the new student-designed station will now infuse the hub of study, collaboration, and social activity with music, campus news, and student-led programming. Its presence will contribute to the energy of Main Street 91¶¶Òõ, creating a dynamic soundtrack for campus life.
“By bringing WVMW to the center of campus, we’re amplifying student voices and the vibrant spirit of Main Street 91¶¶Òõ,” said President Lori.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will also showcase a student-designed relaxation area, providing spaces for reflection, study, and informal gatherings, completing the vision of Main Street 91¶¶Òõ as a lively, welcoming, and inspiring place for all students.
